10/12 :  Dream Team Lord Roberts Centre 3rd Dec 2011- Bargin Buckets

The team consisted of Poppy, Gem, Shadow, Fred & Diesel.

This was the first competition for Shadow, Fred & Diesel.

Race 1 - Can't stop barking
We lost this race but only by a small margin but had a best time of 23.06

Race 2 - power paws preschool
We won this race despite the fact that our best time slipped to 30.54

Race 3- rooky rascals
We won again and now we realised we had a good chance of getting a
rosette, we managed to tidy up our runs and achieved a best time of
25.76

Race 4 - power paws odd balls
We won again and now we were getting really excited of getting placed
in the top 3.
We again tidied up our runs and got a best time of 24.40

Race 5 - dream team babez
This was our last race and the last race of the day.
We won and were extremely happy with our performance. We did our best
time of the day 23.04

After some fantastic results we realised that we had secured 2nd which
we were all really happy with, but then we were informed that the
lights weren't working correctly for our first race and we were given
the option to rerun the race. If we won this it would mean 1st place.

After a mad dash to reassemble the team and get the box back into the
building we were ready to go, the pressure was on!

Race 6 - Can't stop barking
We decided that this was the time to go for it and to push as much as we could.
We WON!!!!!!!!! a faultless run by the team and even more impressive
that with all the dogs clearly tiring that we produced our best time
of the day 22.82

This was an amazing outing for Bargain buckets 1st place and although
we were still only 3rd fastest overall it was our consistency that won
the day for us. A very promising showing from the dogs and a good sign
of things to come!

Well done to all!

Our three wins were enough to tie with Four Paws Racing, however, as we had won against them, we came home 2nd with Bassett Dynamites 1st.

10/12 :  Dream Team Alton 4th September 2011 - Hotwings

We were seeded 4th in division 1 with a seed time of 18:55, our first competition in division 1 with Zingers! The team consisted of: Blitz, Snowy, Luckii and once again the Zingers kindly loaned us Ozzy and Garry.
Our first race of the day was against Fantastic 4 seeded 5th with a seed time of 19.06, which we won 3-0.
The next race was a purely Kennet affair as Hotwings were pitched against the Zingers who were seeded 2nd (17.61). Vicky kindly stepped in to run Blitz as Naomi was running Flea. Unsurprisingly, it was a 3-0 win to the Zingers with their best time of the race being 18:18 with Hotwings only managing a 19.70.
Our final race of the morning was against 1st seed Dream Team Supreme (17.41). Again an unsurprising 0-3 lose.
Our first race of the afternoon was against the 6th seed, Bone Idol (19.18). A 3-0 win to us with a best time of 18.97.
Our final race of the day was against the 3rd seed, Racing Herts (18.23). A 3-0 win to us with a best time of 19.17.
Winning 3 of our races was good enough to gain us the 3rd place rosette.
Many thanks to Vicky who made her debut as a handler running Blitz for some of the races.
It was a very wet day which was reflected in the times.

10/12 :  BFA Nuneaton 21st August 2011 – Hotwings

Hotwings were originally seeded 1st in Division 10 but were bumped up to 6th seed in division 9 (with a seed time of 18.55), so the only way was up! The team consisted of: Blitz, Luckii, Snowy and Trumpet.
Our first race was against the number 1 seed Northants Wagtails (18.45). We were off to a great start winning the first two legs but then lost the next three, however, it was a great achievement to take 2 legs off them. 2-3
Race 2 was against the 3rd seed Ghost Owlers (18.50) losing all three legs. 0-3
Our last race of the morning was against the number 2 seed Ready2Fly (18.46) which we won. 3 -0
At the break we were 2 -1 down!
Next we were up against the 4th seed Mansfield Muskteers (18.52). On the very first leg the lights failed our side, however, it was clear we had lost the heat so an average 4 dog time was recorded. We then lost the next heat but rallied to win the next three. 3 - 2
For our last race we were up against the 5th seed High Voltage (18.53). We lost the first heat again but went onto win the next three. 3 – 1
We were delighted to come home with 3rd place rosettes having been seeded 6th.
It was a great event, with only a tenth of a second between the seed times of the six teams, racing against teams we wouldn’t normally meet on our own circuit.

10/12 :  Jets Stockbridge 13th August 2011 – Hotwings

We were seeded 3rd in division 3 with time of 18.55. The team consisted of Jade, Luckii, Snowy and Ozzy. Due to Blitz and Trumpet not being able to run, the Zingers kindly loaned us Ozzy (with Garry, of course).
Race one was against the number 2 seed, Shooting Star Moonies (18.45). Ozzy was start dog, followed by Snowy, then Jade with Luckii on the end. The second leg Ozzy got a rolling start and Snowy ran his first sub 4 second race, all of which gained Hotwings a fastest ever time of 18.52. However, after an objection from the Shooting Star Mooonies, the race was rerun! Despite Ozzy’s two rolling starts we lost the next 3 legs. 1-3
Race two was against the 6th seed, Cotswold Cyclones (18.78). We changed order, running Luckii as start dog, followed by Snowy, Jade and then Ozzy. We lost 0-3. However, the Cotswold Cyclones had beaten us with a best time of 18.33, having run an 18.25 in their first race of the day.
At the break we had lost both of our races.
Race three against the number 5 seed, Lightning Flash (18.75). Another change to the running order, with Snowy as start dog followed by Jade, Luckii and then Ozzy. We won the first two legs in 18.90 and 18.62, then lost the next two, even with one rolling start. It was all down to the fifth leg which we won and Snowy put in his second sub 4 second run of the day. 3-2
Race four was against the number 1 seed, Lightning Bolt (18.43). Another 5 leg race but we could only manage a fastest time of 19.47, whereas Lightning Bolt’s was 18.45. We lost 2-3 but were happy to have taken two legs off them.
The last race was against the number 4 seed, Power Jets (18.67). We lost the first leg, although it was close.
The next heat started with a rolling start ending in a win, followed by two further wins. 3-1

Once again the whole team hadn’t trained together and with only two of the dogs running who had set the new seed time, meant that coming home with a third place rosette was amazing.

Regretfully, this was the last competition Jade competed in as she sadly passed away in September.

30/07 :  Barkshire Bandits Charvil 23rd July 2011 Hotwings

Hotwings were seeded 3rd in Division 4 with a seed time of 19.47. The team for today consisted of: Blitz, Luckii, Snowy, Trumpet and Zephyr.

Our first race was against Bone Idol, seeded 2nd with a seed time of 19.37. We won the first two heats, in the third Luckii was taken out and Zephyr in, the jumps were raised from 7” to 13”. Unfortunately, we didn’t ask for a run back and Blitz gave everyone a heart stopping moment as she tripped over the first jump and then flipped over the second demolishing it. Thankfully she was OK and to prove it went on to run her fastest time of the day in the next heat. The race was won 3-1 having run two heats under 19 seconds.

We then ran against an empty lane as Shooting Star Rockets had withdrawn from the competition, therefore a win of 3-0.

Next we were up against Delta Force, seeded 5th with a seed time of 19.57. Having won the first two heats we then went on to win the third with our fastest ever time of 18.55.

Our fourth race was against Fourpaws Racing seeded 1st with a seed time of 19.02. We won the first heat and then went on to lose the next three. 1-3

The final race saw us racing Lightning Flash seeded 4th with a seed time of 19.52, who had clocked up a time of 18.75 earlier in the day against Delta Force. We lost the first heat but went on to win the next three. 1-3

The racing finished with three teams having won four races each, so it would be down to the fastest time …

… which was ours at 18.55!

It was all extremely exciting and quite remarkable as the whole team hadn’t practiced together before and Trumpet and Blitz hadn’t even met. Well done to everyone.

30/07 :  Barkshire Bandits 23rd/24th July 2011 Zingers

Zingers yet again found themselves seeded 6th in Division 1 and knew we were in for a tough day, we had to concentrate on our own racing. Aim to beat our seed time and try to capitalize on the other teams mistakes.
For me personally I had to get to grips with being a 5 dog team and decided to try and make things as fair as possible whilst keeping an eye on the times to try and pick up if anyone needed a break .

Our first race was against an empty lane due to Bassett Hotdogs pulling out..
We decided to use this race to try some different dog combinations, Our first 2 legs went well giving us a new seed time of 18.01 but in our third leg we went to pieces and lit the light board up like a Christmas tree! Luckily we couldn't lose!

Our next race was against 3rd seed Lightening Strikes, who had a seed time of 17.28, we raced our best and put in three very good times of 18.23,18.16 and 18.28, but still this wasn't enough to take a leg and we lost 3-0

Next we raced 2nd seed Shooting Stars who had a seed time of 16.86! I decided to give Ozzy a go on start and rest Izzy for the first leg, they raced hard and pulled out some fantastic crossovers with me in the run back area yelling all the dogs home... It wasn't until Becky came racing over jumping up and down did we realise we'd just hit a 17.88!!! Fantastic! Couldn't believe it! and still buzzing I left the team as it was and they lined up to race again. They gave little away and came home in 17.86 to win the second leg! I really didn't want to change anything so again they lined up. This time the stars reminded us how good they could be and took the leg still we were running well and all the dogs looked ok so I left things as they were. In the excitement of the race we gave away an early crossover and Stars brought it back to 2-2. Garry asked to pull Ozzy so we put Izzy back up front.. We gave it our all but the Stars got the better of us and we lost 3-2. We may have lost but this was probably the best race of the day and Stars congratulated us on great racing and our new seed time 17.86! We were still buzzing when we left the ring!

Our first race after lunch was against Jets whose seed time was 17.54. The last race had taken alot out of everyone but we pulled out some respectable times of 18.53 and 18.92 before faulting in the last race.

Our last race of the day was against our closest seed Shooting Stars Comets who had a seed time of 17.72. I decided to rest Cara and although we tried our best stars took the first leg. Ozzy needed a breather so we swapped him for Cara and again pulled out a great time of 18.16 but it wasn't enough to beat the Stars who were putting in early 17's we went on to lose 3-0.

We may not of beaten anyone but we raced well all day and I for one was very pleased to record our first sub 18 run!!! We did brilliantly!! When I looked at our times we were in the early 18's ALL DAY! A little while ago we would of been very chuffed with that! We now need to work hard at training doing some intense box work and fitness to go out and kick butt at the BFA!

Fastest times set by the teams we were racing today were
Shooting Stars 16.50
Jets 17.40
Shooting Stars Comets 17.19
Zingers 17.86

Great Day!
